The Tagish River Habitat Protection Area Steering Committee will ensure the following general steps are used to develop the Management Plan:
- Gather Information - including traditional, local and scientific knowledge.
- Identify values, issues and concerns - community engagement events will be held to gather input and feedback from local residents, visitor, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare draft plan - the Steering Committee will review the information gathered, develop recommendations and identify the work needed to carry them out.
- Prepare final plan - a draft plan will be made available for public review. Input will then be reflected in the final draft management plan. The final plan will then be reviewed by the planning parties before approval and sign off.
The HPA Steering Committee is determined to make the planning process a transparent and open process for all users of the Tagish River. We welcome input from every type of user of the Tagish River, including Tagish residents, non-residents, tourists, and anyone else using the river for any reason. All input will be given consideration within the planning process. Tagish River users are encouraged to attend the public engagement events held by the Steering Committee, as well as access the website resources to provide their input.
